Click here for a volunteer application for Teen Court Teen Court is a diversion program designed to offer an alternative to formal juvenile court proceedings. The defendants must admit their guilt and agree to be sentenced by a jury of his or hers peers. The Teen Court Program provides the student volunteers with: Upon completion, the charge s are dismissed, and there is no record of a conviction for the charge s. All juries must be unbiased. During this intake interview, the Coordinator assesses the offender's intent, attitude and the circumstances and determines whether or not to proceed with the youth in the Teen Court program.
The defendant and a parent or guardian must sign a "Waiver of Speedy Trial".
Teen Court defendants are offenders generally agedwho voluntarily agree to participate. Upon completion, the charge s are dismissed, and there is no record of a conviction for the charge s. A case file is now open for this youth. Police reports, witness statements and information from the Teen Court Intake are provided. Now we have closing arguments during which time the attorneys ask for a just and appropriate sentence.
